The series-connected offshore wind farm (SC-OWF) is a promising generation solution to mitigate the need of centralized high-voltage/power converter stations. Predominantly, researchers have focused on steady-state operation and control SC-OWFs, without considering system-level characteristics ability ride-through dc side ac network faults. This paper proposes an enhanced system for SC-OWF applications with fault-resilient capability, where comprehensive circuit configuration protection strategies are articulated minimize negative effects caused by various types For architecture, grouping scheme adopted substation based disconnectors diodes proposed realize prompt fault bypass/isolation functions in event Additionally, onshore fault-tolerant modular multilevel (MMC) modified dc-system-oriented employed enable smooth secure under conditions. quantitatively substantiated time-domain simulations four ac/dc cases considered, results consolidate feasibility control, indicating resilience system. size, weight cost estimations presented compared conventional MMC station, further highlight merits solution.
